A passion for food and health
My passion for food started at university and has never dwindled. I believe that good, healthy food is a right for everyone whatever budget you have, and should fit around your taste preferences, habits and lifestyle.
And it is all about real food - not just nutrients but food that we can all enjoy. So in all I do I strive to
combine a practical focus linked to a sound, scientific basis.
After graduating with an honours degree in Nutrition and a distinction pass in Dietetics I worked as a clinical dietitian within the NHS, at the same time gaining a City and Guilds diploma teaching qualification. Following promotion to senior dietitian I moved to work within the food industry as a nutritionist, a role that initially involved a significant amount of professional education and teaching, where my passion for passing on knowledge about nutrition came from.
Within the food industry I always integrated communications and nutrition, working closely with advertising and marketing teams, managing nutritional labelling as well as external communications with many key groups. Indeed it was during this period that I also developed a enthusiasm and experience in communications - spending periods working as chief press office, public relations and community relations manager.
On leaving the food industry I spent a period of time working in commissioning NHS services, within the field of Public Health, at the same time completing a Certificate in Education in Commissioning for Health and Social Care. In addition to private work I also work part time within provider NHS services as a clinical paediatric dietitian, with a particular intersest in food allergy. I also regularly provide training in nutrition, through Health Champions Training, and am a trainer for accredited Royal Society of Public Health courses in nutrition and health.
I can work flexibly to meet your personal requirements, so contact me to talk about your needs further.
