Food in Schools

School Meals Service
Need to know if your school food complies with the law?

I can help you assess your provision against the food based standards and the nutrient based standards.  I can advise on healthy drinks that are allowed, and help to adapt recipes to ensure the food you give your children is the best it can be.

Teaching in Schools
I can provide a visiting teaching service to work with children in both primary and secondary schools, in any area of food, nutrition and dietetics.  Examples of work provided include:-
-  Healthy cookery as part of PSHE
-  Promoting the take up of Food Tech
-  Training sessions for staff or governors interested in whole school food policies or as part of Healthy Schools initiative, or to help staff to teach food as part of the curriculum more effectively.

I have experience of working with independent school food providers, cooperating with catering managers and cooks, and have improved school lunches and break time snacks.

For Workplaces and Restaurants
Want to help your staff or customers to eat more healthily?
Nutritional labelling and signposting can help with that.

Helping to keep staff healthy can help improve your business by reducing sickness absence and showing staff that you care about their wellbeing.  Programmes can focus on food availability - making it healthier but keeping the taste and their favourite foods - or we can also combine training and teaching sessions, items in staff newsletters and even practical programmes such as activity sessions or weight management clubs.

In Restaurants more and more people are trying to eat healthily, so helping them to understand how you cook food, whether it is suitable for a low fat diet, low calorie diet or allergy avoidance diets is becoming more and more important.  People with Coeliac Disease are often scared to eat out as they don't know whether food is safe.  Can you help them?
